 What's New for the 2018 Mazda6?

Mazda has made some important updates to its spacious sedan. The 2018 models now have standard dual climate control. Ventilated front seats are on the menu for the first time. Most importantly, Mazda has recreated the seats. A new high-density urethane foam absorbs vibrations, leaving passengers less tired even after a long journey. Another new standard is the MAZDA CONNECT™ infotainment system with its eight-inch touchscreen. This full color display brings you Bluetooth streaming audio choices while a new reconfigurable 7-inch TFT gauge display offers up car-specific information. Standards include SMS Text messaging, Pandora, and HD radio. For cold weather, drivers will appreciate the available heated steering wheel and windshield wiper de-icer. This is the first year that Mazda6 is offering a 360-degree monitor. This full view of the perimeter, augmented by front and rear parking sensors, makes slow-speed maneuvers much more predictable. Mazda has also added an Active Driving Display to the menu. This full-color system is projected onto the windshield, making it easy for the driver to view quickly. The Trim Levels have expanded into premium territory with Mazda6 Grand Touring and Signature editions. These new trims add Nappa Leather and Japanese Sen Wood. UltraSuede NU fabric provides soft touches on the dash and doors. Top craftspeople helped design the Signature edition, adding finer elements than any other Mazda6 before it.

On the outside, you’ll find a new front grille design. Updated 17-inch and 19-inch wheels are also new. For the first time, you can get Soul Red Crystal paint. Drivers will appreciate the new LED headlamps, front/rear LED turn signals, and integrated fog lights. Adaptive front lighting is a popular safety option. The standard engine is a four-cylinder SKYACTIV®-G unit that generates 187 horsepower and 186 lb-ft of torque. Fuel economy is 35 mpg on the highway. There is a new six-speed manual transmission for the Mazda6 Sport. Even more exciting, there’s a new turbocharged engine. This remarkable engine generates up to 250 horsepower and 310 lb-ft. of torque. The six-speed automatic transmission adds automatic cylinder deactivation during long highway cruises. Handling improves with an all-new suspension. A rear cross-traffic alert is the perfect partner for the rearview camera. Already proven as a safe car in NHTSA crash testing, the five-star Mazda6 offers ways to avoid wrecks. Among the most important standards on the Mazda6, Smart City Brake Support and a Blind Spot monitor give the driver tools for safer travel. You can also add more tools such as a forward collision warning. The optional lane departure warning comes with a lane keep assist. If you choose Mazda Radar Cruise Control, the car can slow, stop and go to match traffic.
