2020 Mazda CX-30

 What's New for the 2020 Mazda CX-30?

At the 2019 Geneva Motor Show in March, Mazda revealed its newest compact crossover vehicle. Mazda has broken with its usual vehicle-naming pattern of using odd numbers and instead has named the new crossover the CX-30. The CX-30 falls squarely between the subcompact CX-3 and the slightly larger CX-5. It is based on the 4th generation Mazda3 and therefore features unibody construction. The unibody construction is based on a platform shared with a passenger car, so the result is better comfort, handling, and fuel economy. These features make it less capable as an off-roader compared to truck-based SUVs.

The CX-30 will feature Mazda’s latest SKYACTIV®-Chassis vehicle architecture. SKYACTIV® TECHNOLOGY is Mazda’s approach to vehicle engineering that maximizes driving dynamics and efficiency. This is accomplished with cleaner, more fuel-efficient engines that have higher compression ratios, responsive transmissions that shift precisely, and stronger and lighter chassis construction that is nimble at low speeds and stable at high speeds. The CX-30 will be offered in both front-wheel and all-wheel drive options and will share the same suspension of the Mazda3 consisting of a strut-front/rear-torsion-beam configuration. Since many of the features are borrowed from the newly-redesigned Mazda3, buyers should expect a similar engine with about 186 horsepower coming from a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder that is connected to a six-speed automatic transmission.

The interior design is simple yet extraordinarily elegant. Mazda believes in “beauty by subtraction,” a design philosophy that revolves around removing excess and emphasizing simple, rich and beautiful forms. You won’t find a more refined interior in this class of vehicle. The CX-30 will also feature a suite of driver aids including adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, automatic forward emergency braking, and auto high beams. Mazda has also spent a considerable amount of time improving sound insulation, so the cabin is as serene as it is beautiful. With its aggressive exterior styling, the CX-30 is a head-turner. The bold front fascia and raked headlight design evoke the spirit of a sports car, and the fast rear-hatch profile completes the transition from car to SUV, blending both design elements seamlessly.
