Appearance

The exterior styling of the CX-5 and CX-9 are comparable in some areas. For example, they share their grille shape, and the grille on both SUVs is integrated with the headlights. Also, they both have flowing contours throughout the sides and gentle curvature down the roof. The CX-5, however, has a mesh grille pattern, a horizontal design through the lower front fascia and personality lines that rise up over the front fenders and flow down across the sides. The CX-9 comes with a horizontal bar grille pattern, a rounded front fascia, and muted flow over the front fenders and across the side panels.
