2021 MAZDA CX-5 vs 2020 MAZDA CX-5

Serving Farmington Hills, MI

In 2017, the second generation of the impressive Mazda CX-5 made a grand debut. At the time, bold improvements across its line of features, its styling, and other elements were introduced. Mazda has continued to delight crossover shoppers with additional improvements to the Mazda CX-5 since that time. Now that you are eager to drive home in your next two-row crossover, you need to get familiar with the updates to the 2021 Mazda CX-5.

Performance

In 2020, the Mazda CX-5 has two powertrains available in different trim levels. In most trims, the primary engine is a 2.5-liter DOHC Skyactiv®-G, a four-cylinder design that generates 187 horsepower. The more powerful option introduces Dynamic Pressure Turbo technology to this same four-cylinder engine to boost output to 227 horsepower. For 2021, both of these engines continue to be available. Notably, the Carbon Edition trim that has the 227-horsepower engine is introduced in the latest model year.

Appearance

The Mazda CX-5 is a stunning vehicle that shines with modern radiance. Between the 2020 and 2021 Mazda CX-5 versions, the only differences are found with introducing the Carbon Edition trim in 2021. It has dark accents throughout the exterior and unique badging. All trims show off personality lines with the seamless flow as they round over the front fenders and smooth out through the door panels. The Mazda CX-5 also has sharp LED lights at all trims and a power liftgate, a sunroof, integrated turning signals, and other equipment in select trims for 2020 and 2021.

Features

The most notable difference that you can appreciate between all trims between the 2020 Mazda CX-5 and the 2021 version is the larger infotainment system screen in the latest model. You can also take advantage of remote vehicle control and monitoring through a downloadable app on your smartphone for the first time in 2021. Also, the 2021 Mazda CX-5 Signature has a few extra features added to its standard safety equipment list.

While the 2020 and 2021 Mazda CX-5 are both second-generation crossovers, a few exciting updates have been made to the 2021 version. At Suburban Mazda of Farmington Hills, our friendly sales agents always do what it takes to help our customers make a model and trim selection with confidence.
