Serving Farmington Hills, MI

In 2017, the Mazda CX-5 ventured into new territory with the release of its second generation. Now that you have your eye on this compact crossover SUV for your next purchase, you may be interested to learn that both the 2020 and 2021 Mazda CX-5 versions are part of the model’s second generation as well. Despite having this in common, the 2021 Mazda CX-5 has numerous updates that you should be aware of before you finalize your purchase plans.

All of the 2020 Mazda CX-5 trims flow up to the 2021 model year, and they have the same powertrains. The base-level engine is a 2.5-liter, four-cylinder machine that produces 187 horsepower. For top Mazda CX-5 trim levels, Dynamic Pressure engineering gives the engine a turbocharged boost. The result is the production of 227 horsepower. Notably, the 2021 model year brings a new trim level to the mix. This is the Carbon Edition, and it has the same 227-horsepower engine as you will find in the Mazda CX-5's higher trim levels.

Between the 2020 and 2021 Mazda CX-5 crossovers, the design holds steady on a trim-by-trim basis. However, the Carbon Edition that is new for 2021 has a few extra chrome finishes unique. For all of the Mazda CX-5 trim levels, you can appreciate a balance of fluid flow through the profile, confident angles, and crisp accents. The Mazda CX-5 comes with a chrome-underlined grille, powered side mirrors, integrated turn signals, a power liftgate, a sunroof, and other gear.

You will discover numerous differences in the included and available features between the 2020 Mazda CX-5 and its 2021 counterpart. The 2021 Mazda CX-5, for example, has a larger digital interface in the center of the dashboard. Both model years have smart device integration, a sound system, and USB ports in the center stack. Additional features available in both model years are a push-button ignition, powered seat adjustments, smartphone app accessibility, and more. If you prefer to drive the 2021 Mazda CX-5 Signature, you can benefit from a few extra safety technologies that were not offered in the 2020 version.
