Serving Farmington Hills, MI
At Suburban Mazda of Farmington Hills, our shoppers in the market for a smaller crossover SUV often ask about the differences between the Mazda CX-30 and the Mazda CX-5. The subcompact Mazda CX-30 crossover is slightly smaller across most dimensions than the Mazda CX-5. While this is the most visually noticeable difference between the models, there are a few additional differences that you should learn about before you make your next crossover SUV purchase at our Farmington Hills-area Mazda dealership.
Performance
The 2022 Mazda CX-30 and the 2022 Mazda CX-5 are almost identical from a performance perspective. Both have a four-cylinder, 2.5-liter engine with a six-speed auto transmission in lower trim levels. In the Mazda CX-30, this powertrain produces 186 horsepower, and it is bumped up to 187 horsepower in the Mazda CX-5. Higher trims for both models have a 227-horsepower, turbocharged 2.5-liter engine. Across all trim levels for both models, all-wheel drive is standard.
Appearance
It is easy to differentiate the Mazda CX-30 from the Mazda CX-5 on the road. You will notice that both of these Mazda crossover SUVs have a chrome-outlined grille and a flowing, curvaceous profile. The Mazda CX-30 stands apart with its ovular, stretched LED headlamps. It also has a rounded front end and smooth side accents that turn downward. Select Mazda CX-30 trims and add a sunroof, heated side mirrors, and roof rails. The Mazda CX-5 shows off its unique personality with thinner, longer LED headlights. The angled accents on the side doors are crisp. Exterior features offered in select Mazda CX-5 trims include a sunroof, 19-inch wheels, adaptive headlights, and heated and power-folding side mirrors.
Features
As a higher-level model in Mazda’s 2022 lineup, the Mazda CX-5 has a few extras unavailable or optional in the Mazda CX-30. Nonetheless, these two-row crossovers are impressively appointed with many similar features in select trims. For example, equipment that you may find available in both models includes:
- A dual-zone auto climate control system
- Smart device app connections
- Driver’s seat memory settings
- Heated front seats
- A power liftgate
- Leather upholstery
- Satellite radio
- Assistive driving aids
