Serving Farmington Hills, MI
When Mazda unveiled the second generation of the Mazda CX-5 in 2017, it brought beautiful updates throughout the interior and exterior. Since that time, Mazda has continued to impress its SUV shoppers by progressively updating the popular model.
As you compare the 2021 and 2022 versions of the Mazda CX-5, you will notice a few significant updates. What can you expect if you upgrade to one of these crossovers soon?
Performance
The seven trim levels available for the 2021 Mazda CX-5 have two powertrain options, and these same two engines are offered in the 2022 model year. The first several Mazda CX-5 trims have a four-cylinder, 2.5-liter engine paired with a six-speed automatic transmission, and they combine to produce 187 horsepower. For the first time ever, all-wheel drive is standard for every new Mazda CX-5. For 2021, the Mazda CX-5 can still be had with front-wheel drive though. The other powertrain offered is a turbo four-cylinder, 2.5-liter engine that generates 227 horsepower.
Appearance
For 2022, the Mazda CX-5 receives refreshed styling on the outside. A new signature wing extends outward from the front of the SUV. The front grille has also been updated with a new textured appearance, which replaces the current mesh grille. Both the headlights and tail lights now feature a pair of rectangular LED lights that are horizontally spaced. There are also new aluminum alloy wheels.
Features
The Mazda CX-5 is a well-appointed crossover at all trim levels. Lower trim options for both years come with a push-button starter, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, two USB ports, forward collision mitigation, blind-spot monitoring, a rear cross-traffic sensor, adaptive cruise control, and more. Mid-range and higher trim levels may have leather and wood materials, parking sensors, a navigation system, a surround-view camera, ambient interior lights, a heads-up display, paddle shifters, memory settings for the driver’s seat, a 10-speaker Bose sound system, and more.
